Where checkout changed
Shopify Cart object keeps line items, cost, buyer identity, checkout URL, and attributes in one object, which makes the cart more than a temporary container.
An AI shopping agent needs to know whether an item is in cart, whether the price changed, which charges still need confirmation, and whether checkout is the next step.
Do not trust one conversion number
The useful question is no longer whether a purchase happened; it is which step created the hesitation, missing fact, or measurement gap.
Check the event model
- Add cart lines, quantity, discounts, estimated amount, checkout URL, buyer region, and pending charges to the task checklist
- Keep the test narrow: one priority product or checkout flow before expanding recommendation, authorization, payment, and support work
What still needs proof
Unclear cart state can push an agent toward checkout with the wrong amount or variant. Keep the original source open so the announcement, the evidence, and this site's interpretation stay separate.
