Separate reader traffic
BigCommerce Catalog API also organizes products around variants, images, options, and related catalog records, which shows that product facts should not depend on one platform's naming.
Commerce services should define one field map, then translate it into Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and custom catalogs.
Requests are not readers
The useful question is not whether traffic looks busy; it is which activity represents readers, monitoring, crawlers, retries, or system errors.
Check the logs first
- Create a shared field map for product name, variant, image, price, inventory, category, tag, and update time
- Keep the test narrow: one low-risk task or tool entry before connecting permissions, logs, failure handling, and human takeover to production
What still needs proof
Platform-specific field drift creates repeated cleanup work for search, AI recommendations, and migrations. Keep the original source open so the announcement, the evidence, and this site's interpretation stay separate.
